New West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew admits that he hopes to replicate his previous impact at Crystal Palace, a club he guided away from the relegation zone.

New West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew has suggested that he is capable of taking the Baggies back into the top half of the Premier League table.

On Wednesday, Pardew was confirmed as the replacement for Tony Pulis, who left the West Midlands outfit having registered just 12 points from 21 games in the top flight.

However, Pardew has acknowledged that he has experience of taking clubs away from the relegation zone and into contention for a spot in the top 10 of the standings.

The 56-year-old told reporters: "You miss the training ground. The smell. The noise. The passion. That is what I do best.

"Experience is important. We have a history of delivering. I took Palace from the relegation zone to 10th. These things have to be taken into account.

"We are good enough to stay up but the clubs down there will do business. You can lose key players and you need to be on your guard."

Pardew's first game in charge will be against Palace on Saturday afternoon.
