West Bromwich Albion have stepped up their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 victory over USL Pro side Sacramento Republic at Bonney Field.
The Baggies started impressively, and were rewarded for their early dominance in the 13th minute when Saido Berahino broke the deadlock with a powerfully struck volley from the edge of the box.
A rare attack from the hosts saw the ball break loose to Peter Gilbert in an inviting position, but the Sacramento full-back's strike was easily collected by Ben Foster.
West Brom made Sacramento pay for the miss before the interval when Berahino earned room with his pace on the wing before picking out Youssouf Mulumbu, who calmly converted from close range.
Alan Irvine's side were once again on top in the early stages, but they were forced to wait until just after the hour mark for their third goal, which arrived when Victor Anichebe took full advantage of space 25 yards from goal to unleash an unstoppable effort.
However, the Baggies boss was left disappointed as his side failed to hold on for the clean sheet, with JJ Koval tapping home a consolation goal late on for the hosts after the West Brom defence were unable to deal with a corner.
