Late drama at The Hawthorns as West Brom, Cardiff draw 3-3

Both West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City score in injury time as the two relegation-threatened sides play out a thrilling 3-3 draw at The Hawthorns.

Both West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City scored in injury time as the two relegation-threatened sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at The Hawthorns in the Premier League.

The hosts were two ahead inside the first 10 minutes through strikes from Morgan Amalfitano and Graham Dorrans.

First, Amalfitano scored his first goal since September with an audacious lob from the right wing that Cardiff keeper David Marshall could only watch sail over his head and into the far corner.

Dorrans then scored his first goal of the season by stabbing home Matej Vydra's low cross at the back post.

Cardiff pulled one back before half time when Jordan Mutch tried his luck from at least 30 yards and beat Ben Foster with a curling left-foot shot into the top corner.

West Brom could have restored their two-goal advantage soon after half time but James Morrison couldn't hit the target when a loose ball came his way.

The Baggies were made to regret that miss when Steven Caulker looped a header over Foster and into the corner to pull the visitors level.

It looked like Pepe Mel and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have to settle for a point, but then West Brom appeared to snatch the points in the 93rd minute when Thievy Bifouma scored to send the home fans ballistic.

However, their joy would be short-lived as Mats Moller Daehli squeezed the ball home with virtually the last kick of the game.

A point apiece means that West Brom are three points clear of the drop zone, while Cardiff sit in 18th place.
