Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has confirmed that he is interested in signing Joe Mattock on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old left-back, who was released by West Bromwich Albion earlier this week, spent the second half of the season on loan at the Amex Stadium and made 15 appearances for the Seagulls.
Poyet told The Argus: "He is one of our options because we know him well.
"He was always on our list as a left-back cover or to challenge with Marcos Painter.
"We will consider him. But, yes, it could be difficult."
Mattock joined the Baggies from Leicester City in 2009 for a fee on £1.2m.
