West Bromwich Albion's sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth has claimed that both Paul Scharner and Keith Andrews could still have a future at the club.
The duo were expected to leave the Hawthorns in July when their contracts expire.
However, Ashworth has revealed that discussions regarding an extension to their deals may take place when a new manager is installed.
"Neither Paul nor Keith had an option to trigger," Ashworth said.
"While we're in a position where we do not have a permanent head coach, we are holding open the possibility of negotiations to enable both players to come back to the Hawthorns."
The Baggies have already released four players since the end of the season.
