West Bromwich Albion have accepted a bid from Aston Villa for defender James Chester.
The 27-year-old made just nine starts for the Baggies last season and is now expected to undergo talks over personal terms with the club's Midlands rivals.
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is understood to be in the market for defensive reinforcements having seen his newly-relegated side lose their Championship opener and then suffer a first-round elimination from the EFL Cup.
Chester only joined West Brom from Hull City last summer, but found himself behind the likes of Jonas Olsson, Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley in the pecking order at The Hawthorns.
The Wales international impressed during Euro 2016 this summer, making more challenges and interceptions than any other player at the tournament.
