Hello folks, welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage this afternoon's Premier League clash between West Ham United and Bournemouth!

So the Hammers and the Cherries meet in a league game for the first time in more than 25 years as both look to recover from defeats on the second weekend of the season.

Slaven Bilic was the talk of the Premier League after the first weekend of the new season, but the praise was quickly forgotten last week when West Ham followed their shock win over Arsenal by losing 2-1 at home to Leicester City.

Meanwhile the Championship winners have been brought back down to earth with two defeats in their opening two games, against Aston Villa and Liverpool.

So then, one of the key points in the West Ham squad is the absence of goalkeeper Adrian. The club failed with an attempt to have his red card rescinded earlier this week, which means that backup stopper Darren Randolph starts for the Hammers.

Reece Oxford has missed a few days' training due to a niggle so he's omitted in favour of Pedro Obiang, while the third and final change sees Kevin Nolan come in for Mauro Zarate.

No changes for Eddie Howe's side, however. It's as you were following their positive performance in their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

West Ham and Bournemouth have not met in a league fixture since April 1990. Julian Dicks, who currently serves on Slaven Bilic's coaching staff, was on the scoresheet that day in a 4-0 victory for the Hammers.

The two sides last met in October 1999 in the third round of the League Cup, with West Ham winning 2-0 - goals from Marc Keller and Frank Lampard - in a match that featured Eddie Howe in the Cherries' starting lineup.

So, two games played in the Premier League so far, we're on matchday number 3, and the Hammers have had a bit of a mixed start to the season, following up an eye-opening win over Arsenal - in which 16-year-old Reece Oxford announced himself to the footballing world with a stunning defensive performance - with a poor defeat against Leicester City.

As for Bournemouth, the Championship winners have been riding on a wave of euphoria over the summer ahead of their maiden season in the top flight, but following two defeats on the spin, they need to knuckle down and start to get points on board. They've got a job to do, the Cherries.

Despite being the better side for much of the opening day, Bournemouth started the season with a loss to Aston Villa and another impressive display passed by without a reward as Liverpool claimed a 1-0 victory at Anfield on Monday night.

Eddie Howe watched his side match Liverpool for long spells, and the Bournemouth boss had every right to feel aggrieved when Philippe Coutinho appeared to interfere with play in an offside position as Christian Benteke scored a first-half winner, but he will also be fully aware that the squad must not allow a frustrating decision to affect them for too long.

Going back to West Ham, more signings seem inevitable before the end of the transfer window as the club desperately search for attacking reinforcements, but neither Emmanuel Adebayor nor Burak Yilmaz appear to be heading to East London, with Galatasaray rejecting a bid for the latter earlier this week.

Second-best for much of the Leicester game, the Hammers were disappointed with a couple of decisions after they were denied a penalty in the first half before Adrian was shown a straight red card late on.

The game served as more evidence of the quality possessed by Dimitri Payet, whose goal gave West Ham hope in the second half, and the feeling is that if the Hammers are to challenge with the sides in the top half of the table, the Frenchman could be the key man.

As for Bournemouth, their players will quickly get tired of being told that they have played well in defeat, and the pressure is now on them to ensure that their losing start doesn't become a crisis as they look to get their first points on the board in London.

It will certainly take some time for the summer signings to gel with their new teammates after the club moved quickly to invest in the squad earlier the window, but the Premier League is an unforgiving place, and Howe will know that his side must not extend a disappointing start to the campaign.

Now, some statistics that may worry West Ham fans and reassure Cherries fans. The Hammers have only won two of their last eight home games in the Premier League. In addition, Darren Randolph, who is to make his debut for West Ham this afternoon, conceded 12 goals in two games against Bournemouth in the Championship last season as part of Birmingham City's lineup.

In the interests of fairness, I now have to hit Cherries fans with a not-so-nice statistic: Bournemouth have lost their opening two games - only one of the six newly-promoted sides to lose their opening three games of a Premier League season has gone on to avoid relegation: Southampton in 2012-13.

Slaven Bilic has moved quickly to dispel any fears regarding Darren Randolph facing a team that put 16 goals past him in his last three games against Bournemouth. He told reporters: "Darren is doing well and he is an experienced goalkeeper and an international... I believe in him. He is good and he played in so many games and what happened with Bournemouth could happen to anyone or to him against any other team."

The Cherries boss has admitted that he's feeling positive ahead of today's fixture: "It's going to be a tough game at Upton Park, but it's one we are looking forward to. We saw West Ham's game against Leicester and we know they are a good side but we are upbeat going into this one. Our performances in the past two games have been good, but of course it's important that we start getting results on the board. Our changing room is full of winners - we didn't win the league last year by not having a winning attitude. So of course there is a frustration, but even stronger is a willingness to put it right."

PREDICTION: Ten minutes to go, so it's time for me to have a punt at predicting today's score. It's a hard one to call, given West Ham's Jekyll-and-Hyde nature so far and Bournemouth's strong performances that surely have to come good sooner rather than later - but I fancy West Ham to have regrouped following their Leicester defeat and nick a 1-0 win.

It's a sweltering day in East London today - the mercury is pushing 30 degrees! Bound to be a testing afternoon for both sets of players on the pitch. I hope the fans have brought sunglasses and suncream too. Speaking from experience here - sunburn is not pleasant...

And in today's "cool story, bro" instalment, I went to a festival back in June and I didn't apply any suncream because the sun was poking in and out of the clouds. Come the end of the day I was burnt lobster-red - and because it had gotten cold, I also had a cold. So yeah. Anyone out and about today, suncream.

If the sports reporter career goes down the pan, I'm sure I could moonlight for Boring Tweeter or something. Or Accidental Partridge.

Anyway, enough cringeworthiness. The teams are out, kickoff is imminent!

KICKOFF! Bournemouth get this game underway!

The Cherries have the early possession and King works space on the far side, but his cross is too strong and bounces away.

Now the hosts push forward as Sakho threads the ball through to Kouyate, who crosses into the box, but Boruc claims.

Bournemouth come right back at West Ham as Reid forces a corner. Ritchie floats the ball deep for Francis, but it's too high for the right-back, who glances a header out for a throw.

The Hammers are giving possession away cheaply so far, their opponents not letting the home side settle.

DISALLOWED GOAL! Reid rises up to nod a corner into the back of the Cherries net, but the referee blows the whistle for a push on Elphick.

Kouyate wins a header and Obiang tries to play Sakho in, but the ball is a few yards too strong and it leads to nothing. The Hammers have regrouped nicely following their shaky start.

History in the making as Bournemouth claim their first EVER Premier League goal! Francis charges down the right, shrugs off Cresswell and whips a cross over to Wilson, who powers a first-time shot past Randolph and into the net! First blood Cherries!

That's the 13th goal Darren Randolph has conceded to Bournemouth in the past year. One has to feel sorry for him, even though he could have done nothing about that. Poor defending from Cresswell though.

Back come the Hammers as Sakho finds Payet, who tries to thread a ball in for Kouyate, but Boruc is out to smother.

CHANCE! Cresswell looks to make amends for his error by nutmegging his marker before chipping a cross over the back for Kouyate, who heads over.

Sakho makes a good turn down the left-hand side, but a clearance sends the ball well out of harm's way. King then races onto the long ball for Bournemouth but Randolph flies out of his goal and clears the danger into touch.

A near-miss for West Ham as Jenkinson slips, gifting the ball to Gradel to break. The right-back catches up, however, and is able to stick a leg out to block what looked like a dangerous chance from the shot.

Play is stopped as players from both sides enjoy a drinks break. It really is that hot here at Upton Park.

Jenkinson once again stumbles as he miscontrols a ball with Ritchie bearing down on him. It's not cleared properly, with the ball falling to Surman, but Ritchie's second pop at goal sees the effort go wide.

My word, the West Ham fans are livid! Their defence has been shaky all afternoon, but what we've just witnessed is an absolute shocker! Cresswell - who didn't exactly cover himself in glory in the lead-up to the first Bournemouth goal - makes a complete hash of a backpass, which is intercepted by Wilson. The outcome? A goal from eight yards out, and West Ham now have a mountain to climb.

Wilson has a chance for a hat-trick, getting the ball out wide on the right after playing a one-two, but his resulting shot troubles only the side netting. Boos all round from the home crowd.

Another low moment for Cresswell as the rampant Wilson takes the ball off him, but Randolph stops his effort with his feet. Francis then crosses to King, who lashes over from six yards out.

SUBSTITUTION: West Ham bring off Angelo Ogbonna for James Tomkins in defence - some fans are booing this decision. Was that tactical or was there an injury involved?

CHANCE! Another Bournemouth attempt on goal as Daniels has a go from long range, but it's wide of the right-hand post. The Cherries are completely dominant here and the likelihood of a third goal for them before the break is, one might think, quite high.

Gradel goes down with an injury for Bournemouth and receives treatment on the pitch, but the Ivory Coast international is fine to play on. Another opportunity for the players to sup some drinks.

I wonder what song will play over the Upton Park tannoy at half-time? I'd opt for Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Give It Away. Story of the Hammers - in particular the defence - in the first 45 minutes.

Boruc nervously deals with a ball into the box as Sakho bears down on goal, the Hammers man lashing wide for a goal kick. Meanwhile, at the other end, Jenkinson's poor header nearly gifts King a shot on target.

Four minutes of injury time - drinks breaks also taken into consideration - as Ritchie tries his luck from long range but finds his shot blocked and cleared.

CHANCE! And it could have been three, but Randolph banishes his 13-goal concession demons and brilliantly turns a shot from Gradel over the bar.

The referee blows the whistle - and the boos ring round Upton Park. An incredibly poor first half of football from West Ham, whose defensive frailties have seen them concede twice to Bournemouth.

Callum Wilson was ruthless in attack as he made the most of Aaron Cresswell's mistakes to put the Cherries two goals to the good. The Hammers have a mountain to climb in the second half.

Bournemouth had nine shots in that half, three on target - two of those were Wilson's goals and the other was Darren Randolph's late save from Max Gradel. West Ham have had one shot in that half and none on target. What can Bilic pull out of the hat after the restart?

PENALTY! Could the fightback be on for West Ham? Noble is tripped in the box, prompting the referee to award the hosts a penalty. The captain to take it himself and...

Noble steps up and sends Boruc the wrong way to put the Hammers right back into the game! What a clumsy foul by King, he really didn't need to make the challenge as his opponent was heading away from goal, and that could prove costly for the Cherries!

SUBSTITUTION: Bournemouth bring on Marc Pugh for Josh King, who appears to have picked up a hamstring problem.

Would you Adam and Eve it! The Hammers, so dreadful in the first half, have exploded into life and wiped out their two-goal deficit in a matter of minutes! Sakho controls the ball with his back to goal, turns and shoots, and despite Boruc's save, Kouyate is there to power home the rebound! The home crowd is delirious!

Redemption for Carl Jenkinson, who was so sloppy in the first half, as his powerful throw into the Cherries box began the whole move.

Truly a game of two halves given the action so far, as Gradel shoots from distance but it's well wide. The visitors were bossing the game in the first half but they've just collapsed courtesy of West Ham's double sucker-punch!

A tactical masterclass from Bilic, whose switch to 4-4-1-1, with Payet behind Sakho in attack, appears to have paid dividends. His side are rejuvenated as Sakho goes down in the box from Tomkins's cross. Nothing given.

A poor ball by Reid allows Bournemouth to keep the pressure on - Pugh sends a cross in from the left, but Ritchie is unable to get anything on his header before the hosts clear their lines.

CHANCE! Another great save from Randolph as he throws out his right arm to block a stinging shot from Pugh. He's performing admirably today.

Kouyate falls awkwardly after challenging for a high ball. West Ham's medical team come on the pitch giving the player treatment, and before long he gets back up.

Jarvis drives down the left flank and plays the ball through for Cresswell on the overlap, but the wingback can't do much right on the day as he sends a cross straight at Boruc.

Bournemouth are back into the lead, and what a goal that was from Pugh! He receives the ball on the left side of the penalty box, switches it over to his right foot, fooling the already-committed Jenkinson, and curls a beautiful finish beyond the reach of Randolph!

All of the Hammers' hard work has been undone, once again thanks to a lacklustre defence. Reid gave the ball away to Pugh, and Jenkinson was easily bamboozled by the veteran winger as he edged his side back in front.

Another drinks break ordered by the referee, leading to more booing from the West Ham fans. They may well feel that they're all coming at really bad times for their team.

SUBSTITUTION: West Ham bring on Modibo Maiga for the third consecutive Premier League game as Diafra Sakho walks off.

BOOKING: Obiang goes down injured after an aerial collision with O'Kane. Cherries keeper Artur Boruc rushes over to the referee and gets booked for dissent.

PENALTY AND RED CARD! Gradel goes down in the box under a challenge from Jenkinson - who is shown a straight red! Penalty to Bournemouth...

Wilson steps up and hits the ball - Randolph guesses the right way but the striker finds the corner brilliantly with his kick.

But it's not long before West Ham get themselves back to within a goal! Less than two minutes following Wilson's hat-trick clincher, substitute Maiga gets the ball, runs towards the box and calmly slots home from the edge of the box with Boruc diving the wrong way! Madness!

SUBSTITUTION: Bournemouth bring off Max Gradel, who has had a hand in a lot of the Cherries' good play, with Dan Gosling replacing him.

Maiga beats his man and tries to find a teammate in the box, but the ball is cleared away. Six minutes of injury time here at Upton Park.

Little to report as Bournemouth look intent to play out injury time.

West Ham are trying desperately to push forward as Kouyate crosses, but the ball is blocked and cleared by Ritchie.

SUBSTITUTION: Bournemouth bring on Adam Smith for Matt Ritchie in the dying minutes of the game. Can they hang on to their first ever Premier League win?

CHANCE! So so close for West Ham as Noble's free kick is scrambled away for a corner, and from the set-piece, Boruc spills the ball but it's scrambled wide... and that's it!

What an insane, exhilarating, sloppy, error-strewn, worldie-scoring mess of a game! The kind of game that the neutral would salivate over - but it can't have been good for either set of fans! It finishes 4-3 to visiting Bournemouth, who celebrate their first Premier League win with vigour!
