Adrian hails "massive" Dimitri Payet goal

West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian hails Dimitri Payet after the Frenchman rescued a point for the Hammers in Saturday's Premier League clash with Middlesbrough.

West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has paid tribute to Dimitri Payet after the Frenchman scored a solo goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

West Ham were staring a sixth Premier League defeat of the season in the face when Christian Stuani sent Boro ahead early in the second period, but Payet struck six minutes later to ensure that the Hammers would end their losing run.

Adrian has said that his team showed "character" to come from one goal behind and reserved special praise for Payet, who netted his first Premier League goal of the season.

"We showed team spirit, character and helped each other. This is the way to earn more points. It is a draw, one more point but a good one for us. We have to keep fighting for more points. Payet is like that in training. He scored like a Lionel Messi goal at Barcelona! It is a massive goal to us," Adrian told BBC Sport.

West Ham remain in the relegation zone with just four points from their seven games this season.
