James Tomkins hopes to keep good West Ham United form going

West Ham United defender James Tomkins is hoping that the team can sustain their good run of form throughout the festive period.

James Tomkins has said that West Ham United will be hoping to keep their good form going "as long as possible" following the club's best ever start to a Premier League season.

The Hammers sit fifth in the table after winning seven of their first 14 fixtures in the top flight this campaign, including their last two.

The defender told the club's website: "If we can keep this run going as long as possible, going into a busy Christmas schedule, it's going to be massive for the Club and our position towards the end of the season.

"We just need to take it game-by-game and not get too carried away, because with a busy schedule you can see a lot of teams slipping away and that's not what we want to do.

We've got a few tough games coming up - the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal - and Swansea are doing really well too, just behind us in the league. It's nice that teams look at us and fear us, rather than the other way round."

West Ham host Swansea City later today, with two points separating them in the Premier League table.
