West Ham United hold on to beat West Bromwich Albion

West Ham United come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

West Ham United have survived a series of late chances from West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns to secure a 2-1 win over the Baggies in the Premier League this evening.

The hosts made the brighter start as Victor Anichebe tried to power the ball in from a Chris Baird cross, but his finish went well high of the bar.

The Baggies did break the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes though, as Craig Dawson got forward to head in from a Graham Dorrans free kick.

The visitors started to create more chances as the half-hour mark approached, but Ben Foster did enough to stop Kevin Nolan from tapping in during a goalmouth scramble.

Nolan was on target before the break though, benefiting after Foster had parried an overhead kick from Andy Carroll to smash the ball into the roof of the net.

West Ham continued to look the more likely in first-half stoppage time, and took the lead for the first time when James Tomkins met a Stewart Downing corner in the final moments before the break.

Saido Berahino had a chance shortly after the restart, but his strike from the edge of the box failed to trouble Adrian in the West Ham goal.

Dawson could had added his second of the night as the Baggies continued to push for an equaliser, but his half-volley was wide of the mark after Joleon Lescott had set up the chance.

Adrian continued to come under pressure, but was ready to deny Anichebe after he rounded Winston Reid, forcing a save with a powerful finish.

Anichebe was on target again inside the final five minutes, but Adrian managed to flick the ball clear with his feet before Dorrans fired wide from the rebound.

The result moves West Ham up to fifth in the Premier League table, while West Brom sit 16th.
