West Ham United see off Norwich City

West Ham United beat Norwich City 2-0 in their Premier League match at Upton Park.

West Ham United have moved into the top half of the Premier League table after beating Norwich City 2-0 at Upton Park.

Norwich came close to taking the lead in the eighth minute of the match when Gary Hooper saw his close-range header from Nathan Redmond's cross saved by Adrian.

Robert Snodgrass wasted a gilt-edged opportunity to open the scoring as he was played through on goal by Redmond, but fired his attempt straight at the keeper.

Matt Jarvis had the Hammers' first attempt of the match, but could not beat John Ruddy at his near post.

The Canaries had another great chance to break the deadlock at the end of the half, but Alexander Tettey saw his powerful drive from just inside the box pushed round the post by Adrian.

Norwich started the second half strongly and Martin Olsson threatened when he cut in from the left and hit a swerving strike wide of the far post.

Adrian was proving hard to beat in the West Ham goal and he kept the visitors at bay again when he was out quickly to deny Hooper from point-blank range.

Mohamed Diame missed a big chance to score for the Hammers when Ruddy saved his close-range strike, before Joseph Yobo placed an effort over the bar following a corner.

With six minutes of the match left to play the Hammers took the lead through James Collins, who met Diames' cross at the near post to power a header into the back of the net.

Diame made the points safe in the fourth minute of stoppage time, as he latched onto a long ball over the top from Mark Noble, before placing a low strike from the edge of the area past Ruddy.
