West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini has been ruled out of the Rio Olympics after suffering a knee injury.
The 23-year-old was with the Argentina camp in Miami preparing for the summer tournament after being selected in the final 18-man squad, but picked up the injury in a warm-up match against Colombia last week.
Stijn Vandenbroucke, West Ham's Head of Medical and Sports Science, told the Essex Chronicle: "We are in close contact with Manuel and the AFA (Argentine Football Association), who have started a late-release replacement procedure with the IOC (International Olympic Committee).
"Until he has been assessed by the IOC, he cannot be replaced, but after this process has been completed we want him to return to England to be assessed by our own medical staff as soon as possible."
Fellow Hammers player Aaron Cresswell has also suffered an injury this week, being ruled out for four months with ligament damage.
