Enner Valencia completes West Ham United move

West Ham United secure the services of Ecuador's international centre-forward Enner Valencia.

Enner Valencia has sealed his switch to West Ham United.

The Ecuador international agreed to make the move from Mexican side Pachuca earlier this month, but the deal had stalled over a work permit hearing.

However, following a meeting at Wembley this afternoon, the 25-year-old has been granted the necessary paperwork to begin his career at Upton Park.

"I really appreciate the welcome I've been given and I'm excited to be here," he told the club's official website. "I've already watched and read a lot about the club to learn about it. I know the fans are really passionate and I'm really glad to have signed."

Valencia came to the attention of many as a result of his performances at this summer's World Cup, where he scored three times before his nation was eliminated at the end of the group stages.

Speaking about his form in Brazil, Valencia added that he hoped to continue to produce similar performances for the East Londoners in the Premier League.

"The World Cup was a good tournament for me personally, I scored three times and for my first World Cup it was a good experience, but I hope my next one is better for me and the team," said the striker.

"Of course, the World Cup gives me confidence to come to Europe and I want to take and advance with this opportunity that West Ham have given to me."

Valencia scored 18 goals in 23 appearances for Pachuca, whom he joined back in January.
