West Ham United have reportedly grown in confidence regarding their efforts to sign Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.
After failing to get a deal over the line in January, the Hammers are attempting to bring in the Uruguay international ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Valencia have previously been suggested as the favourites for the frontman, who has a release clause in the region of £40m.
However, according to Sky Sports News, West Ham feel that they are well placed to sign the 22-year-old at a time when they require a replacement for Marko Arnautovic.
The Austrian is set to leave the London Stadium for just over £22m, with the funds being allocated towards getting a deal for Gomez over the line.
Gomez contributed 13 goals and five assists for Vigo in La Liga last season.
