West Ham United have had a bid rejected by Atalanta BC for striker Duvan Zapata, according to a report.
The Hammers have upped their search for a new frontman over the past week, having also been linked with Krzysztof Piatek, Andrea Belotti and Edin Dzeko.
A fourth Serie A player has now emerged as a target for Manuel Pellegrini's men, with Tuttosport suggesting that a €40m (£35m) offer has already been tabled for Zapata.
Atalanta have first dibs on the 27-year-old, who is still technically contracted to Sampdoria, as they have the option to trigger a £12m release clause in his contract.
West Ham must therefore negotiate with La Dea, but they have no plans to sell on the Colombia international to the highest bidder.
Zapata scored four goals against Frosinone at the weekend to join Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the Serie A scoring charts.
