West Ham United have reportedly called off their attempts to sign Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.
The departure of Marko Arnautovic earlier this week was allegedly supposed to lead to West Ham pushing through a deal for Gomez, who has a £45m release clause.
However, according to Sky Sports News, a disagreement over the payment structure has resulted in the Hammers withdrawing their interest in the Uruguay international.
There is a suggestion that Celta wanted to receive the required fee up front, something which West Ham were not prepared to do at this stage of the summer window.
Valencia are now expected to win the race for the attacker, with last year's fourth-placed side said to be ready to allow Santi Mina to move in the opposite direction.
