Wigan boss Roberto Martinez claims that it is easier to make mistakes against his side than it is against the top teams.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that it is "easy" to give decisions against his side in favour of the top teams.

Martinez saw his side lose 2-1 to Chelsea in controversial fashion on Saturday as both of the Blues' goals appeared to be offside, and the Latics boss believes that his side are unfairly treated by officials compared to other teams.

"You would never see those decisions against the top sides. Unfortunately, that's the case. All I want is to have strong referees," said Martinez.

"I just feel to it's a lot easier to make mistakes against us because there are no repercussions. There is not going to be a backlash against your decision.

"It's not just here. That could be three points. When you've got 28, that could be crucial. Those are big influences in everyone's future in the football club. My players don't deserve it."

Wigan currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, level on points with 17th-placed Queens Park Rangers.
