Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has hailed his side's mettle after a 2-1 win at West Bromwich Albion that has lifted them out of the relegation zone.
Goals from Victor Moses and Jordi Gomez claimed the three points at the Hawthorns after Stephen Reid's opener.
"I thought we defended really, really well. You could only see West Brom scoring from set-plays and corners but it was an outstanding free kick from Reid and obviously from then on, I thought we showed some great composure," Martinez told Sky Sports News.
"We got on the ball and dictated the tempo and for an hour, we played really well. I was extremely proud in the manner which we kept the ball.
"We had to defend like lions and then we had to show our composure and flair and open the West Brom defence. I thought it was a complete performance and is something we need to kick on from."
Despite the win, the Latics could drop back into the bottom three if Sunderland beat Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
