Wigan could be without the services of defender Antolin Alcaraz over the Christmas period.
The Paraguayan suffered a suspected cracked rib during Wigan's 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday.
The 29-year-old had just returned from a three-game ban for spitting at Wolves players last month.
Wigan are currently 18th in the Premier League with 12 points from 15 games.
