Jordi Gomez urges Wigan Athletic focus

Jordi Gomez urges his Wigan Athletic teammates not to get carried away with their recent FA Cup exploits as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Jordi Gomez has urged his Wigan Athletic teammates not to get carried away with their recent FA Cup exploits as they look to stay in the Premier League.

Despite booking a trip to the Wembley Stadium next month for their semi-final with Millwall, the Latics are currently three points from safety in the league table with nine games left to play.

"It's a great moment at the moment for the football club, with a trip to Wembley on the horizon," Gomez told the Wigan Evening Post. "Everyone is looking forward to it.

"But it's also very important that we do not take our attention away from the league. We made sure that didn't happen against Newcastle. Everyone is happy and everyone can be very proud of the three points. We are in good spirits ahead of the rest of the season."

Wigan are back in league action on March 30 when they entertain Norwich City at the DW Stadium.
