Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has insisted that Premier League survival is more important than this weekend's FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The Latics are currently three points adrift of safety in the league table with three games to play following Tuesday's 3-2 defeat against Swansea City.
Despite their first ever cup final on Saturday, Whelan wants the club to secure its top-flight status above anything else.
"We've got to take survival, but the Cup is a very, very good secondary trophy," he told Sky Sports News. "The FA Cup is the FA Cup, but survival is what it is all about."
Wigan have stayed in the Premier League since their promotion from the Championship in 2005.
