Former Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson has been offered a trial at Wigan Athletic.
The 30-year-old has not played competitively since January 1 and was released by the Black Cats in March after being charged with drink-driving.
In May, Gibson was sentenced to a two-year community order and banned from driving for 40 months.
The former Manchester United and Everton man, who has won 27 caps for the Republic of Ireland, was involved in the Latics' pre-season friendly at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
Wigan were promoted into the Championship last season and begin the 2018-19 campaign with a home game against Sheffield Wednesday.
