Wigan Athletic confirm Oriol Riera departure

Wigan Athletic winger Oriol Riera completes a six-month loan move to Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna.

Wigan Athletic have revealed that Oriol Riera has departed the club on a loan deal.

The 28-year-old has agreed a switch to Deportivo La Coruna, where he will spend the remainder of the season.

"The reality is that we need to trim the squad and this loan will allow Oriol the opportunity to play more regularly," said Wigan manager Malky Mackay.

"We wish him success back in Spain and will reassess his situation in the summer."

Riera has scored one goal in his 13 appearances for Wigan since his summer arrival from Osasuna.
