Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has taken the blame for his side's Europa League last-16 defeat to Wolfsburg.
The Serie A outfit bowed out of the competition 5-2 on aggregate after losing the second leg 2-1 on home soil, and the former Manchester City boss believes that he was responsible for their elimination.
"We must not concede goals; defending is the fundamental foundation," he told reporters during his post-match press conference. "The fault tonight is mine.
"Defence is the basis of everything. In Europe you can not give two chances and concede any goals in the first 20 minutes.
"We are as disappointed as the fans and they have every right to whistle at us. We had the chances to score more goals but, once we went behind, it became far more difficult."
Goals from Daniel Caligiuri and Nicklas Bendtner helped Wolfsburg secure victory at the San Siro.
