Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez has insisted that he is happy at his German club, despite suggestions that the Swiss was a transfer target for a number of European clubs in the summer.
Rodriguez is believed to have attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Barcelona in August, but the left-back ultimately remained at Wolfsburg, who he has represented since 2012.
The 24-year-old has claimed that God wanted him to remain in Germany as it was not the right time to leave.
"I guess it was just meant to be this way. God wanted it this way. You just need the right timing for a transfer and it's a fact that during this transfer window, there were hardly any transfers of players in my position," Rodriguez told Bild.
"I have a contract here until 2019 and I've been here for four-and-a-half years and established quite a reputation within the team. Everything's good, believe me."
Rodriguez has scored 20 times over the course of five seasons at his Bundesliga club.
