Half-Time Report: Kevin McDonald gives Wolverhampton Wanderers slender lead

Wolverhampton Wanderers record a slender 1-0 half-time lead over 10-man Bradford City at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have recorded a slender 1-0 half-time lead over 10-man Bradford City at Molineux.

Nathan Doyle was given his marching orders on 28 minutes for picking up his second yellow card for a late challenge on Wolves midfielder Kevin McDonald.

Consequently, City boss Phil Parkinson opted to replace striker Aaron McLean with midfielder Chris Atkinson but, despite the numerical disadvantage - and the lack of a striker on the field - it was the Bantams who came closest to opening the scoring.

Adam Reach was played through on goal by Matthew Bates, but he watched his effort cannon off the crossbar.

The hosts threatened to edge ahead on the stroke of half time, with Bakary Sako forcing goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin into a smart near-post save.

However, three minutes into stoppage time the West Midlands outfit found the breakthrough through McDonald.
