Half-Time Report: Nikica Jelavic penalty puts Hull City ahead

A Nikica Jelavic penalty gives Hull City a 1-0 lead over Wolverhampton Wanderers at half time at Molineux.

Hull City have opened up a 1-0 lead over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Championship clash at Molineux after Nikica Jelavic scored from the penalty spot in the first half.

Wolves had a chance to open the scoring less than a minute after kickoff when Nouha Dicko received the ball in the box, but he sliced his shot over from just six yards out.

Despite the home side's bright start, it was Hull who opened the scoring after they were awarded a penalty for a shove by Kortney Hause on Curtis Davies, leaving Jelavic to fire it in from the spot.

The hosts could have been level just three minutes later when Conor Coady unleashed a powerful strike from 25 yards out, but Allan McGregor made a diving stop to deny the equaliser, before David Edwards failed to get the finishing touch to a Dicko header directed across the six-yard area.

The visitors were on the charge again before the break though, with Tom Huddlestone finding himself in the right place as Wolves tried to clear the ball, but his drilled finish was straight at the keeper.

Emiliano Martinez had to make another save in the Wolves goal just moments before the break as Chuba Akpom dodged Hause before trying to chip the keeper, but the on-loan Arsenal striker was denied by his Gunners teammate.
