Half-Time Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers in front after Nouha Dicko strike

A goal from Nouha Dicko gives Wolverhampton Wanderers a 1-0 half-time lead against Championship playoff rivals Brentford.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on course to stretch their unbeaten run to four games after opening up a 1-0 lead against Brentford at half time.

Brentford started the match brightly, with Jota only being denied by an impressive stop from Carl Ikeme, but the home side edged in front at Molineux two minutes later.

Nouha Dicko latched onto a flick which took him behind the Brentford defence, before keeping his composure to fire out of the reach of goalkeeper David Button.

The opening exchanges were being played at a frenetic pace, but both teams were struggling to provide a final ball in the last third after the early opener.

As the game reached the midway point of the half, Wolves began to push men forward and, after Kevin McDonald had marginally missed the post, a deflected effort from Bakary Sako struck the woodwork.

Back came Brentford, though, and Alex Pritchard could count himself unfortunate not to get the Bees back on level terms after glancing a Moses Odubajo cross goalwards, only to see the ball drift wide of the far post.

Brentford continued to pressurise the Wolves backline, especially from set pieces, but Kenny Jackett's team held firm to take a 1-0 advantage into the break.
