Michal Zyro angry over Wolverhampton Wanderers injury layoff

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michal Zyro admits that he was left "furious" after being ruled out for a year through injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michal Zyro has revealed that he was left "furious" by the incident that left him needing a year out through injury.

The 23-year-old Poland international joined the Championship side in January but suffered a serious knee injury during a challenge from MK Dons defender Antony Kay in a league game in April.

Kay was issued with a yellow card for the incident but failed to apologise to Zyro once the extent of his injury became clear.

"There was nothing. No response from the club or from him," Zyro told Polish website Przeglad Sportowy. "He got a yellow card [and that was] the end.

"At first I was furious. [My] anger grew as I watched the European Championships.

"The physiotherapist said it looks my knee is five months past surgery, not three. I know that after returning to play I will be stronger physically. Silently Wolves will aim for the playoffs. Maybe after my return we fight for promotion to the Premier League? This is a league meant for me!"

Zyro joined Nouha Dicko and Jordan Graham as long-term guests on the treatment table during an underwhelming season for Wolves, which eventually saw them finish 14th in the Championship.
