Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Christophe Berra believes that teammate Steven Fletcher should be allowed to leave for a Premier League club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Christophe Berra believes that teammate Steven Fletcher "deserves" to play in the Premier League this season.

The 25-year-old, who submitted a transfer request last week, has been at the centre of a tussle between Wolves and Sunderland.

The Black Cats have reportedly been eager to clinch the signing of the frontman but continue to fail in their bids offered to the Championship outfit.

"He's a top player and I am sure he will go on to big things," said Berra. "Every team want to keep their best players but if people put the right money down you can't say no and I think the boy deserves to play in the Premier League."

Some reports have claimed that Wolves are holding out for a £15m bid from interested parties.
