Alan Curbishley says that he was "flattered" to be considered for the Wolves job but believes that Terry Connor will make an instant impact.

Alan Curbishley believes that Terry Connor is an appropriate appointment for Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite the former West Ham United coach being the original front-runner for the position.

Connor has been announced as Wolves' boss for the remainder of the season.

While Curbishley was a firm favourite for the job, the 54-year-old turned down the chance to take charge at Molinuex.

"I was very flattered [to be] invited for talks and the talks were last week but the outcome [should] remain private and confidential but I'm pleased that they've managed to move on," Curbishley told Sky Sports News.

"Terry Connor going for the rest of the season, he obviously knows the players, he's been there for ten years so knows the club inside out.

"I think at the end of it if Wolves couldn't get the man they wanted for the 13 games, they've gone with Terry because he probably will have an effect straight away."

Steve Bruce, Walter Smith, Brian McDermott and Gus Poyet were also among the candidates for the job.
