Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Stephen Hunt is ruled out for up to three weeks after undergoing groin surgery.

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Stephen Hunt has been ruled out for up to three weeks after undergoing groin surgery.

The Republic of Ireland international had visited a specialist on Thursday to determine the cause of the persistent problem.

"We're confident the operation will resolve all the issues and, providing all goes well, Stephen should be able to return to some form of training by the end of next week," said Wolves medical chief Steve Kemp.

"That will give him a good chance of being available for Wolves for the majority of the rest of the season as well as being available for selection for Ireland for the European Championships."

Bottom-placed Wolves travel to Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday.
