Kenny Jackett maintains Roger Johnson stance

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett insists that defender Roger Johnson will not be returning to the senior squad at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has dismissed suggestions that Roger Johnson refused to play for the club's Under-21 side.

It had been reported that the defender had turned down Jackett's request to improve his match fitness, but while the former Millwall boss insists that isn't the case, he has maintained that Johnson is still not part of his first-team plans.

The 51-year-old told the club's official website: "Roger didn't refuse to play but he feels that at present, the training is keeping him fit and he doesn't need the games.

"But I'm sure that if I'd have said I wanted Roger to play, he would have.

"He is not in my plans and whatever he needs to do to keep himself fit to move on is fine."

The 30-year-old moved to Molineux from Birmingham City in 2011.
