Kenny Jackett: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers fans entitled to boo players'

Kenny Jackett tells his players to "embrace" the pressure put on them from the Molineux stands, claiming that supporters have the right to make their grievances known.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has confessed that his side have deserved to be booed by supporters at times this season due to some "frustrating" performances.

The Molineux outfit have failed to push on from last term's near playoff miss, instead finding themselves closer to the Championship relegation zone than the top six.

Fans let their under-performing players know exactly what they felt of the recent 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford in particular, but Jackett admits that there can be no complaints on such occasions.

"We have to accept there's a pressure to perform," he told the club's official website. "We're in professional football, we have an expectancy and a pressure and you have to embrace that, and want to be in that situation. It's a very important link [with the fans], and one that we take responsibility for the lead. Until you get that link you're not successful.

"It's not something we should be frightened of. You've got to see it as a challenge and realise that if things aren't going well you can turn it round with some good tackles, closing down, certainly a goal, shots, good crosses, good combination play - good football can turn that around very quickly and make a crowd positive.

"In my time here the crowd have been excellent and supported the team. Any crowd, and the Molineux crowd are exactly the same, are entitled to respond to what they see. If they don't see good quality football and cohesion - certainly my side we like to play constructively on the floor - but when they don't do that it can be frustrating for everybody."

Wolves return to action on Saturday afternoon when they face Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
