Burnley manager Eddie Howe is reportedly hoping to replace Jay Rodriguez with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Sam Vokes.

Burnley are believed to be planning a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Sam Vokes.

The 22-year-old spent two months on loan with the Championship club last season and had previously worked with Clarets boss Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.

Howe is a long-term admirer of Vokes and he is willing to spend the majority of the reported £7m transfer fee from the sale of Jay Rodriguez to bring him to Turf Moor, according to The Sun.

Vokes, who joined Wolves in 2008, has only made four league starts for the Molineux outfit.
