Celtic boss Neil Lennon has revealed that the club tried to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old has struggled at the Championship club this season, leading to suggestions that he was keen to depart Molineux.
"I think he's a quality player. He is that all-round type of centre-forward that I really like. I can't talk about another club's player - I don't want to disrespect Wolves. But we wanted him," Lennon told Scotsman.com.
"I feel Kevin would be an ideal foil for the likes of Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes."
Celtic currently top the Scottish Premier League with 65 points.
