Middlesbrough have reportedly pulled the plug on a deal to send striker Kike to Championship rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reports had suggested that Kenny Jackett's side had agreed a £2m fee for the Spaniard, but Boro called off the move on Monday afternoon amid uncertainty surrounding the arrival of Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn Rovers.
According to the Express & Star, however, Kike departed Middlesbrough's training complex at lunchtime with Wolves' Compton Park his rumoured destination.
Speaking to reporters this morning, Jackett said of Kike: "He is a player we have followed and inquired about. But there's a number of players we've inquired about – we're looking at home and abroad.
"We're waiting for information. He is a player we have made an inquiry about, but it's not the only one we're waiting on. There are some long-standing targets."
Wolves are also believed to be working on a deal for West Bromwich Albion left-back Sebastien Pocognoli.
