Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper John Ruddy says that he has no plans to retire for the foreseeable future.

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper John Ruddy has suggested that he hopes to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere next season.

Ruddy is into his fourth season as backup stopper at Molineux, making a total of just 23 appearances in all competitions since the start of 2018-19.

While the 34-year-old has plans to take his coaching badges in the near future, the veteran says that he wants to be used between the sticks on a regular basis before the end of his playing days.

Speaking to the Pink Un, Ruddy said: "I've got a year left at Wolves so come next year we will see what the options are. Hopefully I can get back somewhere I can start playing again.

"I've still got goals and aspirations in my career. I'm certainly not wanting to retire any time soon to start my coaching badges.

"Before I do retire I'd like to have the qualifications in place so that's something I can go into as and when I'd like to. You never know what's round the corner."

Ruddy's current contract at Wolves is due to expire at the end of the season.
