Vicente del Bosque remaining optimistic

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque insists that his squad is capable of turning their fortunes around at the World Cup.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has insisted that his players are capable of turning around their fortunes at the World Cup.

The reigning champions, who face Chile on Wednesday, were beaten 5-1 in their opening game by the Netherlands last week.

Despite doubts over the tenacity of the Spaniards, Del Bosque has revealed that the mood within the camp is positive heading into their final two matches.

"Everyone feels that we are capable of turning things around," he Spanish television channel Cuatro. "Many hours have passed and our spirits are higher.

"We now have to win our next two games, which won't be easy, but is within the realms of possibility. We are searching for the best possible preparation and we are trying to make sure the players are not sad. We have to enjoy ourselves."

Spain lost their opening match of the 2010 World Cup before going on to win the trophy for the first time in the nation's history.
