Gateshead have received an official approach from Wrexham to speak to their manager Gary Mills.
Wrexham have been without a boss since Kevin Wilkin was sacked as the club's manager in the aftermath of their FA Trophy final defeat to North Ferriby United.
Mills guided Gateshead to the Conference Premier playoff final last year, but the North-East outfit can only finish as high as eighth in this campaign.
It is unlikely that any decision or talks will take place until after the final fixtures of the season on Saturday.
