Guanyu Zhou might find himself taking on a reserve driver role at Ferrari in 2025, following his impending exit from Audi-Sauber.

With his current teammate Valtteri Bottas expected to return to Mercedes as a reserve driver and advisor to Toto Wolff, Zhou could take a similar path. The 25-year-old Chinese driver, who has previously hinted at considering a reserve role, is now being linked to Ferrari, according to Corriere della Sera.

The move would mark a return to familiar territory for Zhou, who is a former member of Ferrari's driver academy. Speculation suggests he may pair a Ferrari reserve seat with a full-time race drive in Formula E. In case of any schedule clashes with Formula 1 events, Antonio Giovinazzi, currently competing in the World Endurance Championship, would step in to cover.

Discussing his options, Zhou recently commented, "We have a few options that are looking not too bad."

However, Ferrari has denied the claims. An official source for the team stated the rumour is "not true." Despite this, the Italian outfit has a vacancy as Oliver Bearman will graduate to a race seat at Haas next year.

Meanwhile, Ferrari's current reserve, Robert Shwartzman, is stepping away from his F1 duties in 2025 to focus on a full-time campaign with Prema in the IndyCar series.
