Suzuka to host Formula 1 until 2018

Suzuka secures its Formula 1 future for the coming years.

Japanese circuit Suzuka will continue to host Formula 1 Grand Prix until 2018 after agreeing a new deal with the sport's bosses.

The Honda-owned figure-of-eight track, which has played host to many great title decider featuring the likes of Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell in the past, has a new five-year agreement in place starting from 2014.

Suzuka's status as the host of the Japanese Grand Prix had previously come under threat from the Fuji Raceway, but its F1 future now appears more secure.

It will host the 15th round of this year's World Championship, currently headed by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.
