Federico Gastaldi: 'Lotus will survive this season and beyond'

Lotus vice-principal Federico Gastaldi says that the team will "survive this season and beyond" despite financial problems.

Lotus Renault deputy principal Federico Gastaldi has said that the team will survive "this season and beyond".

The team have suffered from financial problems, which has led to an application from HMRC to put them into administration.

"Don't believe the negative rumours you hear," Gastaldi told BBC Sport.

"We believe in the team, we believe in Formula 1 and we believe we'll still be here fighting for the rest of this season and beyond.

"They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I can confirm that the team is very much alive but we have been going through a very strenuous workout programme this season."

The Lotus team returned to Formula 1 in 2011.
