Ron Dennis: 'Fernando Alonso committed to McLaren'

Ron Dennis says that Fernando Alonso does not have performance clause that allows him to leave McLaren before the end of his contract.

McLaren supremo Ron Dennis has dismissed suggestions that Fernando Alonso could leave McLaren in 2016 to join Mercedes.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has suggested that the Spaniard could move to the Silver Arrows if Lewis Hamilton fails to agree a new contract.

However, Dennis has revealed that Alonso doesn't have any performance clauses that allow him to leave and will remain with the Woking-based outfit beyond the short-term.

He told BBC Sport: "No McLaren driver has ever had performance clauses in his contract and that's the case with Fernando."

Alonso will partner Jenson Button for McLaren in 201,5 while Danish youngster Kevin Magnussen has been demoted to the role of test driver.
