McLaren racer Sergio Perez is adamant that his team can turn their fortunes around and mount a challenge for honours towards the end of the season.
The Woking-based team have endured a miserable campaign so far with Perez and Jenson Button collecting 29 points between them, 60 points less that what Sebastian Vettel has earned alone.
However, Perez is confident that McLaren are close to resolving their issues and becoming competitive at the top.
"That's the target. To win a race or a couple of races," Perez told Sky Sports News. "We know that at the moment there's no chance, no way we can think of that but we have to give our best.
"No-one in the team is giving up. I am very proud of my whole team that they are not giving up and I am sure that we will win some races this year. In Barcelona we were massively far away. You never know, but I expect a couple of races to turn everything around.
"I think it can be a good turnaround. It's difficult to say that we are going to be on the podium for the British Grand Prix because at the moment where we are it looks very far. But you know, McLaren is a great team and they are working flat out. If we can be on the podium in Silverstone, definitely we can be very happy with the performance and then win some races after that."
The Monaco Grand Prix takes place this Sunday.
