Sergio Perez has revealed that he is expecting to remain with McLaren for the 2014 Formula 1 season.
Team principal Martin Whitmarsh admitted earlier that he would be interested in signing two-time world champion Fernando Alonso if he were to become available, leading to speculation that the Mexican could be on his way out.
The 23-year-old, who currently sits 12th in the drivers' standings, told Autosport.com: "I am here for next year, and let's see, hopefully we can be back to fight for a championship next year.
"It is what I am doing, and I am trying to give my best. It has been a very difficult season for all of us, but I always said that my future here looks okay.
"You have to work very hard in any team you are, you have to always give your best and you have to be very professional."
Perez's teammate, Britain's Jenson Button, confirmed earlier today that he has penned a contract extension with the Woking outfit.
