Jenson Button has conceded that he is looking forward to competing in Russia next year.
Up until 2021, it has been agreed that the Sochi Olympic Park in Krasnodar Krai will host a race in the F1 calender.
Talking about the decision, McLaren's Button expressed his excitement: "As a driver I'm really excited and looking forward to race at the new Grand Prix and in a new country as well. There's lot of interest in Formula 1 in Russia and a lot of passionate fans.
"It's great for the fans to hear, to smell and to feel the Formula 1 speed. It's nice to see that motor sports are receiving more and more recognition in Russia."
The track will be the third-longest behind Belgium and England's Silverstone.
