Nico Rosberg wants Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to make it a 'clean fight'

Nico Rosberg tells Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to make sure that he makes it a 'clean fight' as the pair go head to head for the title in Abu Dhabi.

Nico Rosberg has told his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to make Sunday's title showdown a 'clean fight' in Abu Dhabi.

The world champion will be decided in this season's Formula 1 finale at the weekend, with Hamilton currently leading his teammate by 17 points in the driver rankings.

Due to the double points on offer, Rosberg can nick the crown from his teammate, but Hamilton will have to finish below second place in order to lose out on the title.

In today's press conference, both expressed hope for a "clean" battle following previous controversies between the pair.

Hamilton accused Rosberg of hampering his qualifying back in Monaco, and the duo publicly fell out after their cars collided during the Belgian Grand Prix.

When asked by reporters if the drivers are planning to discuss what measures to take to keep it clean, Hamilton said: "No. We don't need to. It's been discussed at the beginning of the season and several times through the season and particularly after Spa again. We're not children. We should know what is wrong and what is right."

Rosberg responded by saying: "Lewis can do something to keep it clean, which is to drive clean himself. So it's not like he can't do something."

Hamilton has clinched 10 race wins this season, while Rosberg has secured five victories.
