Lewis Hamilton hoping for winter Mercedes push

Lewis Hamilton believes that a strong winter will bring Mercedes closer to Red Bull at the start of 2014.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is confident that hard work over the winter will mean a stronger showing for himself and the team next year.

The Briton finished fourth in the drivers' rankings, 208 points behind Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, but the 2008 World champion believes that the extra effort before the start of 2014 will pull the Silver Arrows closer.

He was quoted by The Metro as saying: "There are so many things I have been learning, with lots of problems throughout the season.

"Nico has been here from the first year, so the stuff I'm learning I'm sure is similar to what he was learning in the first year."

Hamilton achieved his first win with Mercedes at the Hungarian Grand Prix back in July.
