Lewis Hamilton takes lead of World Championship after fourth win in a row

Mercedes Lewis Hamilton wins a fourth race in a row for the first time in his career to take the lead in the World Championships at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton produced a fine performance to win his fourth race in a row and take the lead in the World Championship for the first time this year at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who prior to the race had led for 164 of the 169 racing laps he had completed this season, began on pole and continued the trend by leading from start to finish.

Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg ran Hamilton close, however, cutting a four second gap down to just 0.6 seconds in the last few laps to finish second.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo completed the podium after finishing 48 seconds further back, while Sebastian Vettel did well to claw his way from 15th to finish fourth.

Valtteri Bottas was fifth, with Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Romain Grosjean, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg completing the top 10.

Hamilton's 26th Grand Prix win leaves him just one win behind Sir Jackie Stewart and five behind Nigel Mansell.
